Lunchtime Concert Series
“Great music, beautifully played in a relaxed and informal atmosphere. This is what all concerts should be.” – Nicola Heywood Thomas, BBC Radio Wales
“A winning formula: popular classics, played expertly, in a beautiful setting” – Western Mail
On the first Wednesday of every month, Welsh Pops Cymru presents Chamber Pops: a series of concerts with variety and musical virtuosity at its heart.
The series began in May and has so far featured themed programmes of music from ‘Gorgeous Gershwin’ and ‘Best of Baroque’, to ‘Movies and Musicals’, ‘Classical Favourites’ and ‘Let’s Dance!’.
The concerts feature the highly acclaimed Welsh Pops String Quartet and have all been hosted by Welsh celebrities, amongst them S4/C actor Rhys Parry Jones; actress and BAFTA nominated writer of Indian Doctor, Sian Naomi; and BBC Radio Wales presenters Nicola Heywood Thomas and Chris Needs.
This on-going series, the brainchild of Welsh Pops Director Lucy J. Morgan, is run purely for the enjoyment of the local community and to raise money for the Stepping Stones Appeal at Velindre Hospital.
Join us in St Mary’s at 2pm on the first Wednesday of every month for this fantastic series!
Tickets: £7/£5 (concessions – students & pensioners), accompanying children free; available on the door.
