Decree Grouping the Parishes of Llandaff North and the Rectorial Benefice of Whitchurch
under the Name of the
Rectorial Benefice of Whitchurch

TO ALL Christian people to whom these presents shall come or may in anywise concern

GREETING

WHEREAS WE are desirous of ensuring better and more efficient spiritual provision and care for the parishioners of the Parish of Llandaff North and of the Rectorial Benefice of Whitchurch.

ABD WHEREAS by section 2 of Chapter IVD of the Constitution of the Church in Wales (“the Constitution”) it is provided that any Diocesan Bishop with the consent of his Diocesan Conference may make such change in the existing territorial arrangements of his Diocese as he may think fit.

AND WHEREAS by section 3 of Chapter IVD of the Constitution it is provided that the Diocesan Conference or its Standing Committee if so empowered by the Conference shall, subject to Section 2 of Chapter IVD, co-operate with the Bishop in grouping any two or more parishes under one incumbent, or Priest in Charge.

AND WHEREAS the Conference has so empowered its Standing Committee by virtue of the provisions of the Constitution of the Llandaff Diocesan Conference, which was approved by the Conference and has come into effect on the third day of March 2014.

AND WHEREAS by section 4of Chapter IVD of the Constitution it is provided that any grouping of parishes under the powers contained in section 4 of Chapter IVD shall be carried out by Decree signed by the Bishop and deposited in the Diocesan Registry.

AND WHEREAS by section 4 of Chapter IVD of the Constitution it is directed that a Diocesan Decree shall make provision for certain matters therein specified and contain directions and that in default of such provisions and directions, the Decree shall not be valid.

AND WHEREAS it appears to Us to be expedient that a grouping of the two parishes could be created.

AND WHEREAS at a meeting of the Standing Committee of the Llandaff Diocesan Conference to be duly convened and held at Llandaff in March 2014, the Committee will be retrospectively asked to agree to act in co-operation with Us and to give consent to and approval to the grouping of the Parishes, the Parishes having each agreed to such grouping.

NOW THEREFORE WE BARRY, by Divine Providence Lord Archbishop and Metropolitan of Wales and Lord Bishop of Llandaff in exercise of the powers vested in Us by the provisions of the Constitution and of every power enabling Us in this behalf DECREE AND ORDER that from and after the third day of March 2014 the Parish of Llandaff North shall be grouped with the Rectorial Benefice of Whitchurch under one incumbent or Priest in Charge and that such grouped Parishes shall henceforth be known as the n”Rectorial Benefice of Whitchurch”.

The parsonage of the grouped parishes shall be at The Rectory, 6 Penlline Road, Whitchurch, Cardiff.

THIS DECREE shall take effect on and from the third day of March 2014.

PROVIDED  that nothing herein contained shall prevent Us or OUR successors, in exercise of OUR or Their powers, from making any other decree or Order relating to the matters contained in this Decree.
