A Musical Evening with Gail Pearson and friends . . .

Published on 2nd December, 2014

This delightful concert, with the added attraction of a cheese and wine buffet in the interval, took place last Friday evening, 28th November, in All Saints’ Church, Llandaff North.  Gail’s ‘friends’ comprised six of her young vocal studies students, immaculately accompanied by David Butler on the keyboard.

The evening began with a spirited rendition by the whole ensemble of Copland’s arrangement of
‘I bought me a cat’, a traditional children’s song from America.  The varied and carefully-chosen programme featured the duet ‘La ci darem la mano’ (from Mozart’s ‘Don Giovanni’) and solo items from each of the singers, including ‘Some enchanted evening’ . . . which it certainly was!  What was remarkable was not only the musicians’ technical expertise, but also the evident and infectious enjoyment with which they performed.

The superb acoustic of All Saints’ puts the church firmly on the map as a concert venue of choice, and augurs well for other fund-raising events to be held there in the near future, including the Welsh Camerata concert entitled: ‘A Thousand Years of Carols’, which is to take place at 7.30pm on Friday, 12th December.  ( Tickets £10/£8 concessions.  Please see website
‘ Events ‘ for further details. )

The Rector, Rev’d Chancellor John Rowlands, and Team Vicar, Rev’d Marja Henson-Flipse, would like publicly to express their sincere thanks to Gail and her friends for so generously giving their time and effort in arranging this delightful venture, which raised £400 towards improvements to the interior fabric of All Saints’ Church.
