The Epiphany of Our LordDate: Tuesday 6th January, 2015
Time: 10:00 am
Venue: St Thomas's Church, Pantbach Road, Birchgrove.
‘A usually sudden revelation or insight into the nature, essence, or meaning of something’.
( The Chambers Dictionary )
‘ . . . . and when they were come into the house, they saw the young Child,
with Mary His mother, and fell down and worshipped Him.’
( St Matthew, chapter 2, verse 11 )
On the Feast of the Epiphany, the Church remembers the visit of the Magi,
the ‘wise men from the East’, popularly known as the ‘three kings’,
who were led by the star to worship the Christ child in the stable at Bethlehem.
At the coming of the Magi, Jesus was revealed as Emmanuel, ‘God with us’,
for the entire human race, Jews and Gentiles alike,
for time and for eternity.
A Benefice Eucharist in which we commemorate this event will be celebrated at
10am on Tuesday, 6th January, in St Thomas’s Church, Birchgrove.
‘Lo! star-led chieftains, Magi, Christ adoring,
Offer Him incense, gold, and myrrh.
We to the Christ child bring our hearts’ oblations:
O come, let us adore Him:
Christ, the Lord.’
You are all most welcome to worship with us.
