‘Defend, O Lord, this Thy child with Thy heavenly grace,
that s/he may continue Thine for ever,
and daily increase in Thy Holy Spirit more and more,
until s/he comes into Thy everlasting kingdom. Amen.’
( Confirmation prayer of the Anglican Church )

On 11th June in St Mary’s Parish Church,
ten young people drawn from the four Benefice churches
were confirmed in a special service in which they renewed the vows taken by
their godparents on their behalf when they were infants.

‘Confirmation’
( writes the Rev’d Jonathon Wright)*
‘marks a commitment to discipleship in the way of Christ.’

Theo Pappas ( pictured on the extreme left of the picture ) was also baptised.

Please pray for these young people as they continue on
their journey of Christian discipleship.

After the service, an informal celebration was held in the church hall, and the Rev’d Marja Flipse ( Team Vicar ) spoke for us all when she thanked  the parents, the sponsors of the candidates, and St Mary’s Ladies   for providing the delicious – and most welcome! – refreshments.
